What are PANDA groups for parents?
PANDA groups for parents were developed due to our understanding of how much parenthood might challenge our ability to handle stress, and enhances mood swings. Many parents, in general and more so at this time, experience many situations of frustration, uncertainty, helplessness and even despair. The aim of the program is to teach practical tools for emotion regulation in parenthood – related matters and situations. The program is based an the dialectical – behavioral approach (DBT) and incorporates exercises from the PANDA program for kids. The dialectical – behavioral approach is an emipircally based approach which includes practical tools which help with emotion regulation, handling stressful situations and improving relationships with others.
What does the course include?
The course includes three four academic hour meeting, and twelve academic hours in total. The Course’s syllabus includes theoretical content regarding trauma, introduction to mindfulness skills, emotion regulation and parenting and interpersonal skills, as well as exercises of DBT skills. In addition, in the course we will discuss the process of building a group, recruiting participants and assessing the effectiveness of the intervention.
The course will be taught by Sarit Schramm Yavin, educational psychologist and the head of METIV’s children clinic, who was a partner in developing the PANDA program. Sarit treats children, adolescents and parents, teaches therapists and educational teams and gives lecture and workshops.
The course will be held via ZOOM, on Wednesdays between 16:30 – 20:30, on three dates: 7.4.2021, 21.4.2021 and 28.4.2021.
The cost for participation is 650₪.
