Danny BromProf. Danny Brom is the Founding Director of Metiv: The Israel Psychotrauma Center. Originally from Holland, where he founded a psychotrauma center, Prof. Brom is a certified clinical psychologist. Dr. Brom is the initiator and former chairman of the Israel Trauma Coalition. As Director of Metiv, he has brought his expertise to the fields of education, community resilience, health and mental health care to increase the capacity of Israeli society to cope with the ongoing existential threat.

Dr. Brom has published numerous books and articles on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He published the first controlled outcome study on short term therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in 1989. His edited volumes include “Helping Children Cope with Trauma: Individual, Family and Community Perspectives” (2013) with Metiv colleague Dr. Ruth Pat-Horenczyk, “Treating Traumatized Children: Risk, Resilience and Recovery,” also with Dr. Pat-Horenczyk, and “The Trauma of Terrorism: Sharing Knowledge and Shared Care, an International Handbook,” which was launched at the United Nations in 2005. At that time, Dr. Brom gave a congressional briefing hosted by Senator Hilary Clinton about the effects of terrorism and trauma. Many of his contributions are toward bridging the gap between scientific data and the development of service provision in the community.
